“Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” Rated R. DVD.

This film made me want to cry. It’s a tale of a young African American girl from Harlem.  She is sexually abused by her father, and cursed and physically attacked by her drug-addicted mother.  It’s a no-holds-barred look at what we used to call evil, and yet you find yourself rooting for Precious and the people who care about her.
