Kerry Benefield, The Press Democrat’s education reporter and a force to be reckoned with on Twitter, tipped me off that one of her old Santa Rosa High schoolmates has a new book out and will return here Saturday Oct. 16 for a book signing.

Angie Chau, author of “Quiet As They Come,” will appear at Copperfield’s Books in Santa Rosa’s Montgomery Village. The event begins at 7 p.m.

“Quiet As They Come” tells the story of an extended family of Vietnamese immigrants striving to make it in America. Kerry loaned me a copy. I’m enjoying the book, especially its accounts of the vulnerability and Angst that newcomers face in the United States. It reminds me how much I take for granted.

I look forward to meeting Chau.
