Silas Stafford is bound for New Zealand and the World Rowing Championships.

Silas, a Santa Rosa High grad who was featured on Digitale Stories last month, is taking another huge step in his dream to compete in the 2012 Olympics in London. He is competing in the four-man boat, a position much sought after among the U.S. team. His “boat mates” feature three men from Virginia and New York.

The competition takes places Oct. 31 – Nov. 7 at Lake Karapiro. The U.S. is sending a team of 80 men and women, including 20 former Olympians.

The former rower for Stanford University and Cambridge University writes on his blog:

“We’ve had a good training camp, with lots of focused rowing, and just the right amount of “get my boat-mates out of my face” intensity. I’m feeling good about our rowing, our health, and our intensity.”
