The Feature: “Becoming” … 20-Somethings Pursuing Dreams

Efren Carrillo, 29, is the first Latino elected to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.

His Fifth Supervisorial District includes the Roseland neighborhood of his childhood in southwest Santa Rosa. The district stretches west to the Sonoma Coast, and includes portions of wine country, the Russian River and Sebastopol.
Efren graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Economics and Policy, and did an internship with the US Environmental Protection Agency. He was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2008.
