After the typical wedding ceremony, the bride and groom waltz down the aisle, their feet barely touching the ground.

But when Kate and Aaron left the altar Sunday near Occidental, they were soaring. They left friends and family behind and began their wedded bliss on a zip line.

Brides everywhere will be asking, “How did she wear a wedding gown on that contraption?” The answer is she had a harness under her dress with a slit designed into two of the gown’s three layers. The harness straps passed through the two inner layers, and the outer layer draped around the straps.

The couple glided through the redwoods on several zip lines for nearly an hour. At the end of their journey, they floated slowly to earth by rappelling side by side from an elevated platform. Kate’s dressed gently billowed on her descent, until Aaron and she stopped part way down to kiss.
