Santa Rosa High grad Silas Stafford and partner Tom Peszek narrowly missed making it to the medal round in rowing, but still will compete one last time in London at Friday’s finals.

Here’s what Peszek posted on Twitter after today’s (Wednesday’s) race:

Tough, tough race. Great work by @snstafford; we barely missed the medal round but left it all on the course.

The pair finished their semi-final race with a time of 6:58.58. They were given a standing of seventh among the 12 pairs, placing them among the six boats in the “B” round for the finals, according to the BBC website.

Silas’ parents, Tim and Popie, sound very proud for their son. Tim’s last blog post was published yesterday, before the semi-finals, with photos of the two rowers. See it here.

And here is a video made two years ago where the former Stanford and Cambridge rower tells of his dream of becoming an Olympic athlete, a dream now fulfilled.
