YA Video/Short Thriller: “Ivan Krakov 2”

Bjorn Krakov goes to America to save his imprisoned big brother in the short thriller "Ivan Krakov 2." It stars Will Smith, Cody Trimble, Scott Reynolds and Daniel Schroeder. These first-year video students from Healdsburg High came up with the concept, wrote the script, filmed the action and edited the video.

Healdsburg High’s Dexter Dacanay produced this video asking students their opinions on gay marriage. Dexter has been a student for three years in John Chevalier ROP multimedia class. Outside of class, he says, “I like to spend time reading up on current political and world affairs. But I also enjoy spending time with close companions.”

A Leadership Trainer, Then A Teacher: John Chevalier

John Chevalier hardly took the typical path to a job in the public schools. A high school dropout, he has been both an auto technician and manager and a trainer in both leadership development and multimedia. Now he's teaching digital video technology at Healdsburg High School for the Sonoma County Office of Education.

SC High School Newspaper Winners

Healdsburg High’s Rebecca Friedemann, a senior who in September will attend the University of Pennsylvania, was named the outstanding high school journalist Thursday at the 62nd Annual Redwood Empire Excellence in Journalism Contest.
