Montgomery High Calculus teacher John Quintrell doesn’t let grading tests or correcting homework keep him stuck in Santa Rosa. He often brings back to his classroom some photos of his adventures in the great outdoors. He’ll include shots taken as he grades student work, which he seems to take with him wherever he goes. (After viewing a series of such photos, my youngest daughter told him a few years back: “Mr. Quintrell, my tests have more of a life than I do.”)

Here two of his current students, Andrew Whittle and Jamie Goldfield, turn the tables and show Mr. Q. that they too can take math work with them when they get out of town. The young men went camping before the snow fell last year above Yosemite Valley. Mr. Quintrell assured me they wrote out their formulas correctly.

Enjoy.
